OLIVER SCHOOL TEACHER RECEIVES NATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD IN TEACHING
Carrie Ringham, a Kindergarten teacher at Oliver School, has received a 2007 National Excellence Awards for Teachers (NEAT), sponsored by the Heritage Educational Foundation.
Carrie was recognized for her innovative use of thinking maps to enhance student learning, her collaborative team work and her overall philosophy of the purpose of teaching. Her professionalism, skill, sense of humour and relationship building helps students believe in themselves and achieve their potential.
The NEAT Awards give school and pre-school communities the opportunity to honour talented, inspiring and dedicated teachers who are making significant contributions to education and helping raise the status of the teaching profession in Canada.
Award recipients are selected from each of the five regions: British Columbia and the Yukon Territories; Prairies; Northwest Territories and Nunavut; Ontario; Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Each receives a certificate of achievement and a cheque for $5000.
