Good Things Are Happening
80 FOR HAITI - RULES OUT DAY

On January 27, Parkview School students will break all the rules - at a cost. Students are encouraged to help support the victims of Haiti by bringing in funds in order to break the following rules:

$2.00     Chewing gum in class
$2.00     Sitting anywhere in the classroom
$2.00     Wearing hats during school time
$2.00     Changing your name for the day
$2.00     Wearing pajamas in class
$2.00     Putting feet on the bars of the desk
$2.00     Talking to friends during class
$3.00     Eating in class
$3.00     Having breakfast in class from 9:30 to 10:00
$4.00     Drawing and reading in class
$4.00     Staying inside for recess (building a fort in the courtyard)
$4.00     Playing Nintendo DS or other video games
$3.00     Playing games on computer/smart board
$20.00   Bringing a lizard to school

Students in the Learn to Lead class, under the guidance of teacher Heather Webster, came up with the 'break the rule day' idea. Each classroom has a goal of raising $80. The school is hoping their grand total will exceed $2,000, which will be donated to the Red Cross to provide direct aid to Haiti.

Parkview's 560 students are embracing this event and are planning to have fun breaking rules for a day while at the same time raising funds to support Haitian families and children in need. Heather Webster adds, "Students at Parkview are a caring community. They saw this urgent need to provide assistance and are doing so in a fun and unique way that is providing a way for all of our students to take part in this worthwhile cause."
