Student leaders with ideas worth spreading at TEDxYouth Conference

Tue, 25 Feb, 2014

News: TedXYouth

High school students from Edmonton Public and Edmonton Catholic Schools, along with other Alberta and Canada-wide youth, spoke at the first ever TEDxYouth@Edmonton event on February 22. The conference provided a platform for youth to profile their outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences and humanities and their commitment to inspire positive social change. Some ideas that students discussed included the role that information and technology plays on group action as well as the need for empowered learners who can shape the education system to better reflect student concerns. Designed to ignite thoughtful discussions and connections within small groups, TEDxYouth@Edmonton was largely coordinated by project lead, Terry Godwaldt, founder and director of the Centre for Global Education at Queen Elizabeth School.

TEDxYouth was organized and hosted by Edmonton Public Schools, Edmonton Catholic Schools, TEDxEdmonton and DiscoverE from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta.
