The Infrastructure Maintenance area of Edmonton Public Schools requires full-time Carpenters to assist with maintenance and repairs, as well as multi-trade projects and renovations in District schools and other buildings. The ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work individually or as part of a team.


  • a valid Alberta Journeyperson Carpenter certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal
  • minimum of six years’ experience in the trade
  • experience with installation of doors, windows and related hardware, interior systems (metal studs, drywall, suspended ceilings), and installation of cabinets, cupboards and shelving
  • finishing carpentry skills
  • experience working in a school or institutional environment would be an asset
  • the ability to undertake the physical demands of the trade including working at heights (ladders, scaffolding, manlifts), working overhead, completing tasks that involve frequent bending, lifting and kneeling, and lifting up to approximately 32 kg

The successful candidates will work Monday through Friday (80 hours bi-weekly)  and will be required to have a valid Alberta driver’s license and be willing to use their own vehicle to transport materials and equipment to District schools. The successful candidates will also provide their own hand tools related to the trade. Power tools will be provided.


Rate of Pay

$38.08 per hour and Advance on Expenses of $408.37 bi-weekly
