About Board Policies & Administrative Regulations

On September 1, 2019, the new Education Act came into effect. Work is underway to review and revise all Board Policies and Administrative Regulations to reflect the new provincial legislation.

What are Board policies?

Board policies are statements that guide the desired operation of Edmonton Public Schools. They create a framework for the Superintendent of Schools and staff to carry out their responsibilities and may contain statements of belief, expectations, and specific requirements.

The Board of Trustees use policies to reflect the values they bring to a specific issue as representatives of the community.

In our filing system, board policies end in .BP.

What are Administrative Regulations?

Administrative Regulations are the procedures and practices established by the Superintendent of Schools that direct staff work to meet the expectations or requirements of board policies.

The Superintendent of Schools uses administrative regulations to establish specific procedures for schools and central services to implement board policy.

In our filing system, administrative regulations end in .AR.
