  1. POLICE INTERVIEWS

    1. When police officers find it necessary to visit a school to interview a pupil, the officers are expected to report to the office of the principal and make known the purpose of their presence.

The principal will bring the student to his office where the interview will take place in the presence of the principal or other staff member. The principal or staff member present is to act in the role of parent of the student during the interview.

    2. It is the duty of the principal to see that the above procedure is followed. The principal or teacher assigned must be present at any interviews which take place between police officers and students in the school.

  2. POLICE APPREHENSION

Before removing a student from school, the police officer should attempt to communicate by telephone with the parents and inform them of the course of action he intends to take. If the officer is unable to contact the parents or guardian with regard to the apprehension or removal from school of a student, then it is incumbent on him to so notify the student's parents or guardians as soon as it is reasonable possible.

  3. BREACHES OF REGULATIONS

If there are breaches of the regulations set out above, the principal must report these immediately to the Associate Superintendent Operations.
