The District asked representatives of important stakeholder groups to participate on a working committee. This committee will provide feedback as we develop several options for a community-driven strategy for the Westlawn area. The working committee includes:
The committees will meet between October 2016 and February 2017 to develop a plan. In spring 2017, the plan will be presented at a public meeting for feedback from the community.
In this final meeting of the Westlawn area working committee, concepts were reviewed for any minor changes. The Committee planned the presentation and breakout sessions for the public meeting on March 15, 2017.
In December, the Westlawn area committee asked the architect to develop three different concepts. These concepts were reviewed at the fifth committee meeting in January. The concept plans will be revised to reflect committee feedback and reviewed again in mid-February. Final concepts will be shared for public feedback in early March 2017.

The meeting included discussion around District programs and how they are distributed. We also took a look at how Kindergarten-Grade 9 schools benefit students in our District. The committee reviewed data to get a better understanding of the students and the community the schools serve. Committee members looked at the data and identified trends or information relevant to our process, as well as other ideas not provided in the data. This information will be used in our next meeting, December 15, 2016, to form new concepts to share with the community in March 2017.

These tours showed committee members the possibilities available in a new construction project compared to the possibilities and/or limitations of modernizing an existing building. The committee will use this knowledge to develop potential concepts for the area.
