Dave Colburn October 2010 to October 2013
Dave Colburn is a graduate of Dalhousie University and worked for 35 years as a conductor and locomotive engineer with CN and VIA Rail before retiring in 2006. His daughter recently graduated from high school in the District. Dave was actively involved in education by serving on school councils and several parent advocacy groups. He has been recognized for outstanding parent achievement for his role as founder and co-chair of "Literacy and Learning Day"(2003). As co-chair of the Alberta Coalition for Healthy School Communities for the past three years, Dave is dedicated to improving the health of students and to eliminating the sale of junk food in schools. Returning for his third consecutive term as a Trustee, Dave is committed to prioritizing district support for the most vulnerable students as well as focusing on being more creative and assertive in supporting the health of students and staff.
"Trustees have an enormous responsibility in guiding the education of 80,000 students. We must be connected to community, focused on students and courageous enough to lead change in order to meet the challenges of the 21st century."
