Leslie Cleary October 2010 to October 2013
Leslie Cleary brings a wealth of volunteer experience and community involvement to her work as a new member of the Board. She is an active volunteer with the Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta and is involved with the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and the Alberta Community and Co-operative Association youth leadership program. Leslie is a recent graduate from Grant MacEwan University with a post-diploma certificate in Executive Leadership in Non-profit Sector program. Her leadership experience includes serving for the past two years as a president of the Volunteer Management Group, a professional association for volunteer managers in the Edmonton area. She has been married for 20 years and has a son who has just entered the University of Alberta. Her goals as Trustee are to set up a framework within Ward I for parent representatives to meet quarterly with their Trustee and to set up a regular community newspaper column for Trustees to communicate to the public.
"I believe in a public education system that helps all students realize their potential so that they can become active members of our democratic society. As a progressive school Trustee, I will be providing leadership, advocacy and action to strengthen an inclusive, dynamic and sustainable public education system."
