News item: Accepting Tenant Applications for Rundle Building

Edmonton Public Schools is accepting applications from potential tenants interested in providing services in the Rundle School building. With the opening of Ivor Dent School September 2017, Rundle School will no longer be operational and will instead become a building that supports the community.

A VISION TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY

The District’s vision for the Rundle facility is a building that will:

  • enhance the quality of life for students and families attending schools in the community
  • be a positive asset to the Rundle community
  • offer programs and services that are relevant and useful to the community

In recent months Edmonton Public Schools has worked closely with stakeholders to help define how the Rundle School building can serve as an asset to the students and families of Ivor Dent and the broader Rundle community.

Stakeholders have shared a vision for the Rundle School building that includes many activities and services that could engage people aged 2 to 92, including:

  • academic supports / adult learning
  • arts / music / dance enrichment
  • community / social events
  • cultural / language programming
  • Indigenous community programs
  • recreational activities / sports / play (indoors and outdoors)
  • seniors activities
  • supports to families

We're committed to honouring this vision. We'll use this feedback to help select future tenants who share this vision and want to be part of this exciting opportunity.

COLLABORATIVE TENANCY MODEL

The Rundle School building will operate a collaborative tenancy model, where tenants participate in a shared governance structure. In this model, tenants deliver their traditional services and programs. They also collaborate with other tenants to explore how the group can build on community-identified activities and opportunities. The governing body will include tenants, stakeholders from the community, Ivor Dent School and Edmonton Public Schools.

If your organization can offer these types of activities and services and would like to be part of a collaborative tenancy model, please complete the Rundle Annex Expression of Interest form.
