News: Archives and Museum Launches “Shake It Up” Fundraising Campaign

The official “Shake It Up” fundraising campaign kick-off took place inside the restored legislative chambers at the historic McKay Avenue School, home to Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum yesterday. The event featured Trustee Ray Martin, Superintendent Darrel Robertson nailing the first shingle, a tour of the building and musical performance by 108 Grade 2 students from A. Blair McPherson School.

Through the fundraising campaign, Archives and Museum is selling cedar shake shingles for $25 each with all donations going directly to repair the roof of the building and preserve a piece of Edmonton Public Schools’ history.  The goal is to raise $645,000. All donations of $25 or more are eligible to receive a tax receipt.
