News item: First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Honouring Celebration

Over 50 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit high school graduates attended the 2016 Honouring Celebration on June 8 at J. Percy Page School. The celebration began with a pipe ceremony and was followed by a dinner and Round Dance to honour the graduates.

Grand Chief Tony Alexis attended and brought greetings on behalf of Treaty 6 First Nations. Superintendent Darrel Robertson and Trustee Bridget Stirling also attended the event and congratulated the students on behalf of our District and the Board of Trustees.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS

The Honouring Celebration provided an opportunity for approximately 550 Elders, District staff, students, guests and community members to come together and recognize the success of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit high school graduates.

Congratulations to the more than 470 self-identified First Nations, Métis, and Inuit graduates across Edmonton Public Schools!
