News item: Academic Enrichment Program to replace Pre-Advanced Placement

Starting September 2022, Edmonton Public Schools will replace the Pre-Advanced Placement program for junior high students with the Academic Enrichment Program.

Last year, the Division sought feedback from families, students and staff with the goal to develop a new academic program that could offer more flexibility to meet the specific needs of each school’s learning community. That feedback helped guide the development of the new Academic Enrichment Program, which will be available in nine junior highs starting next school year.

Like Pre-Advanced Placement, the Academic Enrichment Program will offer students challenging academic experiences by deepening their learning in the core subjects of mathematics, science, English language arts and social studies. The program will prepare junior high students for academic programming in high school, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate.
