Division suspends COVID-19 vaccination regulation

Wed, 2 Mar, 2022

News item: Division suspends COVID-19 vaccination regulation

Beginning on Thursday, March 3, the Division is suspending the COVID-19 Vaccinations administrative regulation that was put in place in mid-October.

Vaccinations and COVID-19 testing as outlined in the regulation are no longer required.

It’s important to note that the administrative regulation is being suspended at this time, not rescinded. The Division will implement the administrative regulation again in the future should it be needed.

HIGH VACCINATION RATE AMONG STAFF

Ensuring safe learning and working environments is a shared responsibility, and Division staff took this very seriously.

As of February 2022, 96.5 per cent of Division staff have received two or more doses of the vaccine. With a high staff vaccination rate in the Division, we believe we have achieved the regulation’s goal—safer learning and working environments.

We continue to encourage staff to get vaccinated.

CONTINUING SAFETY MEASURES

We take the health and safety of our staff, students and community very seriously. Our layered approach to help limit the spread of COVID-19 includes staying home when sick, daily health screening, enhanced cleaning and disinfecting in schools and enhanced ventilation for every classroom in the Division.
