News: Get ready for the 2023–24 school year

It’s open house season and that means it’s time to start thinking about the 2023–24 school year. Here's some information to help you enrol your child in the school and program that is right for them.

Registration and pre-enrolment are not first-come, first-served. If you’re registering a new Kindergarten student, or your child will be moving to a new school, take the time you need to research your options and find the right fit.

Registration is open for new students

Kindergarten students and other students new to Edmonton Public Schools can register for the 2023–24 school year starting on February 1. You can register at any time throughout the year, but applying after 4 p.m. on April 14, 2023 may limit your options.

Pre-enrolment begins March 6

Parents of current Edmonton Public School students can pre-enrol from 9 a.m. on March 6 to 4 p.m. on April 14. Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account to choose your school.

Random selection, closed boundaries and lotteries

Increasing enrolment and a shortage of school space mean that a growing number of schools and programs are unable to accept all interested students. Random selection, closed boundaries and a lottery process help manage enrolment and keep schools from getting too full.
