News item: Planning for the 2021-22 school year

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, our Division is starting to plan for the 2021-22 school year. This current school year brought many changes and options for families because of the pandemic, and we offered families a quarterly choice model for in-person and online learning.

For the 2021-22 school year, our goal is to have a gradual return to in-person learning. However, we understand that the evolving nature of the pandemic means this may not be possible at the start of the new school year.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT YEAR

When school begins in the fall, we anticipate health protocols will continue to be in place. We know many families may still wish to have a choice in how their child learns. We also know some families have found that online learning best suits their child’s needs.

YOUR OPTIONS

  In-person or online learning
Other Division schools
Online learning for entire 2021-22
Argyll Centre
 What

Families will have an opportunity to choose in-person or online learning for the first half of the school year.

No matter which learning option you choose, you remain connected to the school where you are enrolled for 2021-22.

Families may choose online learning for the entire school year

Argyll Centre’s live online teacher instruction is similar to the online learning format that was offered at all schools this past year.

 How

Families will pre-enrol at their designated or preferred school in SchoolZone.

Pre-enrolment takes place from March 8-April 15, 2021.

Families will pre-enrol at Argyll Centre, a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school, in SchoolZone.

Pre-enrolment takes place from March 8-April 15, 2021.
 Family choice

Between June 21 and August 12, families let us know how their child will learn for the first half of 2021-22, by making their selection in SchoolZone.

In the second half of the school year, if a full return to in-person learning is not possible due to the pandemic, families will have another opportunity to choose their preferred learning option for the rest of the school year.

Students enrolled at Argyll Centre will learn online for the entire school year and are not required to make a selection in SchoolZone after pre-enrolment is complete.
Considerations  Families will have the option to choose online or in-person and remain attached to the school you pre-enrolled in.

Your child’s school is Argyll Centre. Families who pre-enrol in a full year of online learning will not be connected to their current school as they have been this year.

If students choose to return to their previous Division school for the 2022-23 school year, in some circumstances (lottery schools, entrance criteria schools, programs of choice), your space is not guaranteed.

PRE-ENROLMENT STARTS MARCH 8

Sign in to SchoolZone between Monday, March 8 at 9 a.m. and April 15 at 4 p.m. to select your child’s preferred school for 2021-22. Pre-enrolment is not first-come, first-served, so take time to research your options and find the school and program that is right for your family.

KEY DATES

March 8-April 15, 2021: Families across the Division pre-enrol their children to tell us the school they’d like to attend next year. To choose online learning for the entire school year, select Argyll Centre as your preferred school during registration or pre-enrolment.

June 21-August 12, 2021: Parents at other schools across the Division can sign in to SchoolZone to choose online or in-person learning for the first semester (September-January).

January 2022: If a full return to in-person learning is not possible due to the pandemic, families will be asked again to choose in-person or online learning for the rest of the school year.
