New provincial social studies curriculum in Kindergarten to Grade 3 this school year

This school year, students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 are learning new provincial curriculum in social studies.
The Division is also participating in selective field testing of new draft curriculum for Grades 7 to 9 in:
- mathematics
- social studies
- physical education and wellness
- career education and financial literacy
New curriculum is being developed and introduced in schools over a number of years.
How we’re preparing
Many K–6 teachers took part in professional learning related to the new curriculum last school year and over the summer. Opportunities for professional learning will continue to be offered this school year. School staff also have access to updated teaching and learning resources to support the new curriculum.
