May is Asian Heritage Month

May is Asian Heritage Month, and we’re recognizing the rich contributions of the Asian community to our schools, city and province! 

The Division is providing schools with resources to support their conversations with students about Asian history, culture and the issue of anti-Asian racism.

LISTEN, HEAR, LEARN: HONOURING ASIAN VOICES

Diversity Education has also partnered with families, students and staff at Edmonton Public Schools to produce a video resource for students: Listen, Hear, Learn: Honouring Asian Voices.

The powerful video focuses on Asian culture, history, languages and the incredible contributions Asian people have had and continue to have in our communities. Video participants also share deeply personal stories, which highlight why anti-racism education continues to be a priority for our Division. 

Thanks to the participants for contributing their voices and lived experiences to our continuing conversations about anti-racism.
