During the week of October 6, schools across the Division will celebrate READ IN Week. This year’s theme is Books to Bytes, which celebrates reading in all its forms—from paperbacks to ebooks and beyond.
Whether it’s alone, with a friend or together as a class, reading happens in so many ways. From hardcovers to audiobooks, from recipes to comic books, the possibilities are endless!
READ IN Week has been running for over 35 years to help instill the love of reading in Edmontonians and people in the surrounding area.
Anyone can participate in READ IN Week! In previous years, we’ve welcomed athletes, politicians, authors, media personalities, parents, students and community members to classes across the city.
Guest readers are welcome at participating schools for both in-person and virtual readings. To find a class, we encourage you to contact a school directly.
In the event that we’re not able to welcome readers into our schools due to labour action, we will encourage everyone to keep the spirit of the week alive by celebrating literacy at home and in their community.
We want to see all the fun you have during READ IN Week! Follow along on the READ IN Week social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook). Tag your photos and experiences on social media with #ReadInWeek.
For more information, including tips on how to read aloud, head to the READ IN Week website.
