News item: New Business and Innovation program open for registration

Starting September 2024, Edmonton Public Schools will offer a new alternative program that teaches curriculum through a focus on business and innovation.

On December 12, 2024, the Board of Trustees approved the new Business and Innovation program to begin in the 2024–25 school year. The program is best suited for students who have an interest in business, information and technologies courses and an aptitude for creative solutions and how to execute them.

In a 2021 student interest survey, students ranked areas of interest and career pathways. They  told us they would like to see more learning opportunities in the areas of business and entrepreneurship. This feedback, combined with student enrolment data in Division Business course offerings, helped guide the development of the new program. The Business and Innovation program will help expose students to various different business pathways, among other goals of the Division’s Career Pathways model.

The Business and Innovation program will be offered in Grades 10 to 12 at McNally School for the 2024–25 school year. Families with children in high school next school year can register for the program now.
