News item: New stem alternative program open for registration

Starting September 2022, Edmonton Public Schools will offer a new alternative program that focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

On February 15, 2022, the Board of Trustees approved a new Division STEM alternative program to begin in the 2022–23 school year. The program is best suited for students who have a curiosity and aptitude for STEM as well as for innovation, creative problem-solving and hands-on project learning.

In a recent student interest survey, students ranked areas of interest and career pathways they  told us they would like to see more learning opportunities in STEM.

The program will be offered at one junior high and one high school for the 2022–23 school year, and may expand to include other schools within the Division in subsequent school years. Families with children in junior high and high school next school year can register for the program now.
