These numbers represent enrolment on September 30 as submitted to Alberta Education.

Program enrolment may not equal a school's total enrolment because:

  • students may be enrolled in more than one program, and
  • some programs are not shown.

Enrolment data gives parents a general understanding of the number of students at a school or enrolled in a program. Although we’ve made every reasonable effort to ensure the data is accurate, there may still be errors. To confirm enrolment, contact the school.

About S. Bruce Smith School

S. Bruce Smith is dedicated to engaging students in authentic learning experiences in a caring and supportive environment. We strive to provide quality instruction and programming to meet the needs of all students. Our goal is to create motivated students who are self-directed learners within the 21st Century context as well as capable, connected and contributing members of society. Staff, parents and community work together to maximize the academic, social and emotional growth of students. S. Bruce Smith students will become confident, responsible and productive global citizens.

In addition to providing regular programming at the junior high level, S. Bruce Smith is a Division site for Strategies, Opportunity and Academic Enrichment programs. Participation in the Portal Project enhances 21st Century Literacy learning. Core courses (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education and French) and complementary courses (Instrumental Music, Art, Environmental Outdoor Education, Career and Technology Studies, Exploration in Film, Business Ventures, Learning to Lead, Study Skills, Military History, Careers & Employment and Computer Studies) provide a well rounded learning experience at the junior high level. Programming accommodations include the use of educational assistants, study buddies, peer tutors and STEP students. A cross-graded Guidance and Support Group promotes student leadership, respectful peer relationships and a strong sense of community.

We believe that all students can succeed in their education through:

  • providing authentic learning experiences and quality instruction,
  • holding high expectations for work ethic and behavior,
  • guiding students to make responsible choices within a caring environment, and
  • the responsibility and accountability of results shared by parents, staff and students.
