Description

Edmonton Public Schools is looking for a full-time, 10-month, permanent Educational Assistant to provide one-on-one support to a student who is hearing impaired and a student who has cerebral palsy.

ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • you have a diploma in a related field
  • you have a minimum of one year related experience including classroom-based service delivery to children
  • you have experience working in partnership with children’s families to achieve basic skills necessary for success
  • you have experience with assistive technology
  • you are proficient in American Sign Language
  • you have excellent communication and collaboration skills

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Educational Assistant will:

  • provide one-on-one support for a student who is hearing impaired and a student who has limited ability to communicate
  • facilitate effective academic and social integration of students into a regular classroom environment
  • motivate and encourage students to participate in classroom activities
  • assist with planning, initiating and supervising daily student routines
  • assist with activities during physical education class
  • provide support utilizing various educational software programs
  • monitor assignments and student progress
